Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
PickleMeet ("the app", "we", "us") helps people find pickleball players, games and public courts nearby. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the app and the website at getpicklemeet.com, why we collect it, who can see it, and what choices you have.
What we collect
- Account: your name and email address, plus a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and, if you allow it, your name and email (Apple may give us a private relay address).
- Player profile: display name, optional photo, bio, skill level, preferred game types, years playing, club, home area and weekly availability. You choose what to fill in.
- Location: if you allow location access, or choose a city, we store an approximate location (rounded to an area of about 1 km) to show games, players and courts near you. Other players never see your location, only an approximate distance such as "~3 miles". We don't track your location in the background.
- Activity: games you create, join or leave, invitations, groups, friends, blocks, favorite courts, courts and photos you submit, and post-game feedback (for example "would play again" and positive tags).
- Messages: chats you send in games, groups and direct conversations.
- Photos: profile, court and group photos you upload. We store resized copies with all metadata (including GPS location) removed.
- Reports and support: reports you file about users or content, and messages you send us with the optional email you provide.
- Device and push: a push notification token for your device, the app version and your notification settings.
- Technical data: IP address and basic request information, used to deliver the service, prevent abuse (for example rate limits) and keep it secure. We also record basic product events (for example "game created") to improve the app. They contain no free text, location or contact details.
We do not upload your contacts. When you invite friends, your phone's own Messages, email or share apps send the link. We never see who you send it to unless they join. The app has no ads, no third-party advertising or tracking, and no in-app purchases.
What other players can see
Your display name, photo and skill level appear in games, chats and player lists. Your bio, availability, friends, groups and favorite courts are visible according to your privacy settings (Settings → Privacy), where you can also choose who can message or invite you and whether you appear in Find Players. Your email, phone, exact location and sign-in details are never shown to other players. Courts and game locations are public places and are shown precisely.
How we use it
- To run the service: show nearby games, players and courts, manage games, waitlists, groups and chats, and send reminders.
- To suggest matches based on skill, schedule, distance and shared games or groups. We never use sensitive characteristics for matching.
- To send notifications you've turned on, and account emails (verification and password reset).
- To keep the community safe: review reports, prevent spam and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To answer support requests and improve the app.
We never sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising.
Who processes it
We use a small number of service providers to run PickleMeet: Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage and sending emails), Cloudflare (network security and delivery), Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (delivering notifications), and Apple and Google if you choose to sign in with them. Map images are loaded from a map tile provider, which receives your IP address like any website. Court information comes in part from OpenStreetMap; we don't send them your personal information. These providers process data only to provide their service to us. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
- Account, profile and activity: while your account exists.
- Location: replaced whenever it's updated, and deleted with your account or when you clear it.
- Email codes: expire after 15 minutes and are stored only as a one-way hash.
- Support requests: as long as needed to resolve them, and no longer than 2 years.
- Reports and moderation records: kept for safety and legal reasons, even after an account is deleted.
- Server logs: kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo, location, availability, friends, blocks, devices and notifications. Messages you sent in group or game chats stay so others' conversations make sense, but are shown as "Former player" and no longer linked to you.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile and privacy settings, turn notifications on or off by type, clear your location, block anyone, and download a copy of your data (Settings → Download my data) at any time. You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or on our Delete your account page. To access, correct or delete your data, or for any privacy question, contact support@getpicklemeet.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. Contact us and we'll help.
Age requirement
PickleMeet is for adults 18 and older, because it is used to arrange in-person meetups. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
All connections use encryption (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, access to data is restricted, and every request is checked so people can only see what they're allowed to see.
Changes
We may update this policy. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
